How to foster Learner Autonomy in Computer-Assisted Instruction Environment

Abstract


Computer-assisted instruction has been employed in English teaching for decades, and it offers rich materials andample opportunities for students to share ideas with each other. It has been long considered as one of the effectiveteaching modes to promote autonomous learning. This paper aims to address the major issues teachers and studentsencounter under computer assisted instruction background. After a brief introduction about the present Englishteaching status and the relative theories about Computer-Assisted Instruction(CAI), teaching practice is put forwardand discussions about it are followed in an attempt to give some enlightenment to the current foreign languageteaching.
