Focus and Scope

Journal of Curriculum and Teaching (JCT) is devoted to publishing high-quality scholarly manuscripts in curriculum, instruction, learning, teaching, and related disciplines across diverse educational contexts and settings.

JCT welcomes rigorous theoretical and empirical scholarship that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in curriculum and teaching. The journal includes research in the following areas:

Curriculum Theory
Philosophy, history, knowledge and knowledge selection, frameworks, models, and theoretical perspectives.

Teaching Methodology
Pedagogy, instructional strategies, instructional design, classroom practices, classroom interaction, differentiated instruction, subject-specific teaching, and instructional decision-making.

Program Innovation
Program design, course design, curriculum development, learning outcomes, content sequencing, curriculum mapping, constructive alignment, and curriculum innovation.

Policy Development
Curriculum policy, curriculum reform, curriculum implementation, curriculum governance, policy-practice relationships, policy adaptation, and curriculum change.

Professional Ethics
Teacher ethics, professional responsibility, professional standards, teacher professionalism, teacher identity, ethical decision-making, teacher–student relationships, and professional conduct.

Assessment in Education
Assessment design, formative and summative assessment, authentic and performance assessment, feedback, grading, and assessment literacy.

Manuscripts focused primarily on administration, general psychology, or technology should demonstrate a clear and direct contribution to curriculum or teaching scholarship.

Peer Review Process

The journal uses double-anonymized peer-reviewed system for peer-review. The manuscript will be peer-reviewed by at least two independent external reviewers with relevant expertise. The review process may take 4-14 weeks. The editorial board makes the editorial decision after considering the reviewers' reports, the manuscript's scholarly quality, relevance, originality, methodological or analytical validity, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and any other relevant information. Possible decisions include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, rejection with an invitation to submit a substantially revised manuscript as a new submission, or rejection.

 

Publication Frequency

Quarterly, published in February, May, August and November

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Before submitting a proposal, please note the following:

  • The special issue should focus on a specific research topic, conference theme, or closely related area within the journal’s scope.
  • All manuscripts submitted to the special issue will follow the same editorial and peer-review process as regular submissions.
  • Proposed guest editors and reviewers are subject to approval by the journal.
  • Proposals should be submitted to the journal at least five months before the planned publication date.
  • An article processing charge (APC) applies to each accepted article.
  • All published articles will be freely available online as open-access articles.
